Aluminum, magnesium, and specialty metallic powders for energetic formulations, propellant additives, pyrotechnic composites, and shaped-charge liners. Programs handled under ITAR-registered supply chains with lot-level traceability from atomizer to buyer.
Metallic powders enter the energetics stack as fuels in propellant and pyrotechnic composites (aluminum, magnesium, boron, zirconium), as liner materials in shaped-charge and EFP warheads (tantalum, tungsten heavy alloy, copper), and as ballistic and kinetic components (WHA, DU-substitute WNiFe alloys).
The core aluminum grades — MIL-DTL-13820 Class 1–5 spherical and flake powders — remain the highest-volume energetic metallic feedstock, supplied into propellant primes for tactical rocket motors, ammunition primer compositions, and pyrotechnic delay elements.
Energetic-grade aluminum is qualified against MIL-DTL-13820 (US) and STANAG 4629 (NATO), with specific attention to active-aluminum content (typically > 99.0 %), surface oxide, particle morphology, and moisture. Class-of-explosive handling — including ATF Type 20 and Type 30 magazine storage, DOT hazmat routing, and ITAR-compliant end-use certificates — is managed on every program in this vertical.
Buyer categories: DoD prime and sub-prime contractors, NATO munitions integrators, commercial ammunition manufacturers, and end-item integrators building tactical rocket motors, mortars, artillery projectiles, and countermeasure flares.
Metal Powder Supply is developing complementary offtake positions on new-build U.S. RDX and HMX production capacity, restoring domestic energetic supply that has been import-dependent for two decades. Powder metallic feedstock and energetic offtake programs run under linked MPS-3 strategic agreements — contact us for the current status of these programs.
Every program starts with a technical intake — bill of materials, spec references, volumes, and traceability requirements. We respond inside forty-eight hours with a qualification path.
